18 May Things you never want to have to do
Everyone’s got a bucket list these days. See the Taj Mahal, jump out on a plane, ride on a camel. But what about a list of things you’d rather not experience in this lifetime? At Dental Beauty Islington, we’re willing to bet that seeing the emergency dentist in Islington because you’ve got a whacking great abscess under your teeth will be on it. And we agree. Only a very weird person indeed would have that on their bucket list.
We don’t mind. We don’t want to see you here under emergency circumstances either, especially if it’s due to an infection that could have been avoided. So, if you don’t want to see us and we don’t want to see you, what can you do to make sure that you never have to meet the emergency dentist in Islington? Try the following:
Have a diligent oral health care routine
Actually, that’s it really. All you have to do is brush your teeth for two minutes twice a day using a medium to soft toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. We can show you how best to wield your brush so that you can remove any food remains and plaque, for these are the two things that lead to decay and infection.
Once you’ve brushed, we recommend having a really good floss at least once a day, and a poke about with interdental brushes, especially if you are getting a bit long in the tooth and gaps are starting to create food traps between your teeth.
Come for bi-annual check-ups
We want to see you, just not under emergency circumstances. If you come for a twice-yearly check-up and also get your teeth professionally cleaned by our hygienist, you can be pretty certain you will avoid nasty infections and decay.
Check-ups allow us to spot trouble before it gets serious, and before you will be able to feel it, either as pain or as something weird when you run your tongue over your teeth. By that time, the trouble is already pretty serious.
If you do all of the above you stand a very good chance of avoiding all contact with the emergency dentist in Islington.
