18 Jul How does Invisalign work

We already know that Invisalign works using aligners.

Looking at how thin and slimline they are it seems crazy these little things can straighten even really crowded or crooked teeth.

Firstly, you should know that, ANY kind of orthodontics system used to straighten teeth, works by applying pressure to the teeth, which in turn causes the teeth to move.

When we create your 3D video animation of your treatment, Invisaligns’ clincheck software will show us exactly how many of these aligners it will take to straighten your teeth.

Lets say for example its 15 aligners.

Each aligner is created in a slightly moved or rotated position than the previous one, such that, your first aligner is where your teeth are at the moment, and your last aligner is the position we want your teeth to end up.

Every two weeks, at home, you’ll change over to your next aligner (typically patients come to visit us every 6-8 weeks and we will give you 3-4 aligners to take home with you on each visit). Since your next aligners is in a slightly more moved or rotated position that the last one, this change in position puts gentle pressure on your teeth causing them to move.

Of course there is a bit more science behind it and there a things you might want to know about such as, attachments, reductions and refinement, but, in a nut shell that’s how Invisalign straightens teeth.
